Dead boy found floating off Pantai Tanjung, Assam

BALIK PULAU, Mon:

The body of an 8-year-old boy was found floating off Pantai Tanjung Assam near Teluk Kumbar here today.

Mohd Aidil Che Yah's body was discovered at 10am by a group of fishermen who were alerted by the boys' parents to search for him near the coastal area.A Standard Two pupil of SK Seri Bayu in Teluk Kumbar, Aidil was believed to have slipped into the waters while playing along the beach here by himself.His fisherman father, Che Yah Abdullah, said his youngest son in a family of seven left the house at noon on Sunday to attend their neighbour's wedding kenduri.The family became worried and launched a search for the boy when he failed to return home after the kenduri was over.

“I rushed to a nearby cyber cafe outlet when someone told me that he was spotted there at about 6pm but he was not to be found,” Che Yah said.He then sought the help of his fellow fishermen before lodging a missing persons report at midnight.
